Holon חוֹלוֹן‎

Holon is on the southeastern border of Tel Aviv. Bat Yam is to its west, Rishon Lezion to its south and Azur to its east. The main roads leading to Holon are Ayalon Highway and Geha Highway. Holon is a city of over 200,000 people, once known primarily for its large industrial zone it has reinvented itself as a culture and design center and children’s paradise, offering its residents a high quality of life. Holon has rebranded itself as the Children’s City, a plan that has spurred numerous developments in the city in the realms of education, culture and leisure that have benefited all its residents and families in particular.

Holon was founded on sand dunes six kilometers (3.7 miles) from Tel Aviv in 1935. The Łódzia textile factory was established there by Jewish immigrants from Łódź, Poland, along with many other industrial enterprises. In the early months of the 1948 Arab–Israeli War, Holon was on the front line, with constant shooting taking place. Following the establishment of the state of Israel, Holon expanded to include Tel A-Rish  and the orange groves of Yazur.
